Common signs of wire fraud are:

  • urgent requests
  • grammar and spelling errors
  • differences in email addresses
  • complicated payment instructions
  • a buyer overpays and wants you to wire the difference
  • requests for your bank account information or login credentials
  • insistence that a wire transfer is the only way to pay
